Edinburgh Lions handed The Badgers a big defeat in the cup in what was a enjoyable and hard fought contest.
Differences in numbers and organisation showed as the Lions worked their bench well to play a full court press on the Badgers for 3 quarters of the match, whilst on the offensive moved the ball to find their 2 main threats open for long jump shots.
N. Scott and G. Echveria done the Lions share of the scoring, hitting over half of the points inflicted on the Badgers.
It certainly wasn’t a disaster though as the Badgers had some decent buckets and didn’t allow their D1 opponents to score any more than they are often used to.
No complaints on the result from this pack of Badgers but the 6 who made the trip down Easter Road for the battle of Leith can leave with their heads high. The black and whites gave it their all and have bowed out at the quarters in their first run in the Lothian Cup.
It will be good to have a couple of the Badgers back in the upcoming weeks as the team has soldiered on playing with just 5 on Friday and 6 today. Fraz, Minda, Andy, Farooq, Graham and Mike all put in some serious effort today. It’s easy to let the head go down but they still managed to drop 12 points in the final quarter and leave with a smile on their faces. The offence needs polished but once it’s there then we look forward to causing some of the bigger names in D2 some problems.
Scorers for today:
Minda – 13
Fraz – 10
Mike – 8
Micky – 1
And no foul outs 🙂
